Bill Hybels Admits “Mistake”

November 1, 2007

Bob Burney reports a shocking “confession” from Willow Creek Community Church:

What we should find encouraging, at least, in this “confession” coming from the highest ranks of the Willow Creek Association is that they are coming to realize that their existing “model” does not help people grow into mature followers of Jesus Christ. Given the massive [...]

The sin of control

October 31, 2007

You don’t have to labor long in the church to encounter the full force of the sin of control in board and committee meetings, voter meetings, etc.  I came across the following interesting quote from Darrell Gruder’s book, The Continuing Conversion of the Church:

September 27, 2007

Drew Goodmanson gives three reasons why church plants are more effective at evangelism than established churches, but he also has some suggestions for how established churches can be renewed.

Can established churches recapture the dna to reach people?  I believe church planting is the most effective form of evangelism only because in it’s very nature it [...]

What is a Healthy Church?

September 13, 2007

Tim Challies reviews the book, What is a Healthy Church? by Mark Dever:

“What is a Healthy Church? is a shortened, introductory version of Dever’s previous book 9 Marks of a Healthy Church written primarily for people in the pews rather than the men in the pulpits. After all, church health is not the sole responsibility [...]

Church Renewal and Church Planting

September 12, 2007

Here is an excerpt from an interview with Steve Childers, seminary professor and President of Global Church Advancement:

So why do you think church planting is so important?
