Orthodoxy and Evangelicalism
At his blog, Trevin Wax has a three-part series where he interviews Theron, a man who has left evangelicalism for Eastern Orthodoxy, and John, who has left Eastern Orthodoxy for evangelicalism. In the third part of his series Trevin points out some of the interesting parallels and contrasts between the two interviews.
Trevin is familiar with Orthodoxy after making a few mission trips to Romania and then studying there for more than a year. Orthodoxy is the official state religion in Romania. I found the series interesting because, as a Missouri-Synod Lutheran, I’ve been curious as to why some of my fellow Lutherans have left the LCMS for Orthodoxy. I also thought Trevin did a good job in his interviews, especially being kind and fair.
